90t Travel Lift Case Study: Transforming Yacht Handling in Cebu, Philippines

Release time:Mar-27-2026

In the archipelagic nation of the Philippines, Cebu is not only a famous tourist destination but also a key hub for shipbuilding and maintenance in Southeast Asia. With the rapid growth of luxury tourism, demand for maintenance of medium and large yachts, as well as commercial fishing vessels, has surged. Traditional rail tracks or fixed cranes often struggle with modern yacht designs, causing hull damage, operational blind spots, and tidal limitations. In 2025, HSCRANE delivered a custom 90-ton mobile travel lift to a leading Cebu ship service provider, redefining local dock lifting standards.

Project Challenges: Balancing High Precision and High Frequency

The client’s maintenance facility, located along Cebu’s busy straits, handles 8–12 vessels of varying sizes daily. Core challenges included:

● Sensitive hull materials: Modern yachts are mostly fiberglass (FRP) or aluminum, highly susceptible to localized pressure. Rigid lifting devices can easily cause scratches or structural risks.

● Limited workspace: Tight turning radii between workshops and slipways made traditional towing methods inflexible.

● Extreme corrosive environment: High heat, humidity, and salt-laden air posed serious challenges to crane electrical systems and metal structures.

Solution: HSCRANE Travel Lift

HSCRANE engineers delivered a comprehensive technical solution addressing all challenges:

Flexible Slings with Multi-Point Control

The 90-ton travel lift features four independently adjustable high-strength flexible slings. Made from specialized synthetic fibers and carefully calculated widths, the slings evenly distribute vessel weight across contact points, avoiding paint damage. Operators can precisely adjust each sling point via remote control, keeping vessels level even when their center of gravity shifts.

Eight-Wheel Fully Steerable Tire System

To maximize space efficiency in the compact facility, the travel lift uses advanced hydraulic steering. It supports forward/reverse, diagonal movement, crab steering, and 360° on-the-spot rotation. This allows the 90-ton lift to make right-angle turns in aisles barely wider than its chassis, transforming previously unused corner spaces into productive repair zones.

Targeted Anti-Corrosion Measures

Considering Cebu’s tropical marine climate, the machine received C5-M-grade anti-corrosion coating. All key electrical components are enclosed in temperature- and humidity-controlled IP66 cabinets. Hydraulic lines use stainless steel fittings with additional UV-resistant wrapping, ensuring long-term resistance to sunlight and aging.

Results: From Tide-Dependent to High-Efficiency Operations

Since deployment, the maintenance center’s operational efficiency has increased by over 45%:

● Eliminated tidal restrictions: Paired with a U-shaped slipway, the travel lift operates independently of tides, significantly shortening delivery cycles.

● Reduced labor risks: Fully automated lifting replaces complex manual towing and support frame setups, achieving zero on-site accidents.

Enhanced Brand Value

With its reputation for “damage-free lifting,” the center attracted numerous high-end yachts from international clients, becoming the most respected ship service point in Cebu and southern Philippines.

HSCRANE’s 90-ton mobile travel lift is more than lifting equipment; it is a core asset that enhances client competitiveness. By combining non-standard customization with intelligent drive systems, HSCRANE demonstrates China’s leading position in specialized crane manufacturing.
